Located strategically in the North Central part of West Virginia, Shinnston provides its residents and visitors with easy access to a full range of recreational, cultural, and historical activities. Many of our activities are unique to our heritage and culture and provide our community a sense of identity.
These range from the traditional Frontier Days Festival held downtown to the Theatre in the Park Series held in the new performance center at Ferguson Park. We are pleased to provide such events to our community and those who visit our charming city.
Check back regularly for updated events on the calendar below:
Wind Down Wednesdays
Wind Down Wednesdays offer music, food, and fun periodically throughout the summer months. Enjoy a variety of live bands, as well as beer & adult beverages and delicious food provided by local businesses.
Bring a chair or a blanket to the corner of Pike and Main, and enjoy a night out with your family and friends!
Family Nights in the Park
During the summer patrons also enjoy Family Nights in the Park, featuring $1 swimming followed a free movie in the performance center. These events are held once a month during the summer.
Each year the City of Shinnston hosts a free music, arts and history festival that truly has something for everyone! Attendees can enjoy streets filled with local food trucks offering a variety of cuisines. Kids can play on carnival rides, get their faces painted, and meet some of their favorite characters. Music enthusiasts will delight in daily performances by local, regional and national artists. And of course, shoppers will be able to buy unique and hand-made items from a wide variety of vendors.
Veteran’s Day Parade
The Veteran’s Day parade is one of our city’s most cherished events. Enjoy marching bands, fire trucks, and other entertainment as we take to the streets to honor those who served.
Shop Small Saturday
We love our local businesses, and we encourage members of our community to support each other by Shopping Small. Shop Small Saturday is our way of giving back to those local businesses that help to make Shinnston a great place to live.
