Commitment to Community
Under the direction of Chief of Police Jon Harbert, the Shinnston Police Department currently employs seven full-time police officers to provide law enforcement protection for city residents.
From daily patrols to providing a Prevention Resource Officer (PRO) at Lincoln High School, the police department plays an active role in our community. Each year they help with the bike rodeo and Take 25 event, providing safety materials for children and parents alike. The department has also sponsored the Arrive Alive Tour, which educates kids on the dangers of driving drunk or distracted. In July they host a community cookout at the swimming pool at Ferguson Park, where the officers spend the evening grilling food and meeting city residents as a way to build trust and transparency with the community. Each October, the police department bundles packages of treats for the kids at Big Elm Elementary for Halloween.
The Shinnston Police are cooperative partners in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) victim notification program. For more information on this program, click here.
The police department headquarters is located at 43 Bridge Street. The phone number is (304) 592-2121. If an officer is not in the building and you have an emergency, call 911. Otherwise, leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as an officer becomes available.
