On our web pages you will find all the information you need to know about our community, its economy, education system, recreation, special events, and local government, as well as other interesting sites about West Virginia. Shinnston is also one of ten award-winning Blueprint Communities in the state of West Virginia and is committed to developing its assets to the fullest of its potential. ***Through partnerships with the West Virginia Department of Transportation and their Transportation Alternatives Program, the Charles Street sidewalk and portion of Pike Street sidewalk replacement is currently under construction.  Stantec Engineering provided all documents and permits and under a sealed bid process, the City awarded the contract to FPS Building and Development, Inc. out of Beaver, WV.  Total project cost is $229,563.00 with the City's matching funds provided by the 2012 excess levy renewal.***
